In 2015, the box office of domestic films contributed by first-tier cities was 4.7% less than that of imported films, but the box office of domestic films contributed by fourth-and fifth-tier cities was completely superior to that of imported films, which was 2% and 4.4% higher than that of imported films respectively.

In 2017, the box office of domestic films in first-tier cities lost to imported films again, accounting for only 46.2%, while the box office of domestic films in fourth-and fifth-tier cities remained firm, reaching 61.9%.

Young people in small towns can be described as die-hard fans of domestic films.

From the box office comparison of cities at all levels in the Spring Festival of 2018, it is not difficult to see that the fourth-and fifth-tier cities are more in pursuit of "Detective Chinatown 2" and "Catch the Demon 2".
